Beauty

Human ugly under
blue sky and purple mountains,
A man and all his imperfections.
He is not desert violet light,
Black velvet night.
He is a smudge bleeding plain
into Cerulean blue star light,
arctic white.
The earth demeaned
by one more parasites.

One of those
who claim dominion
over all that is unimportant.
Commerce a foible of man,
a means to gain.
To rule and so become
a king of fools
who rules over nothing.

Not the sky the sea or the air.
Nor a fistful of golden sand,
impossible to hold in a mortal hand,
each grain infinitely more perfect
than we can imagine.
