You were

You were the leeside
of the hill.
The good air that spills
from summits unseen in
cloud.

You were pure light
refracted clear
and bright
through a distilled prism.
You were everything.

Faces turned away
when you passed by.
shoulder high.
Eyes everted
tongues busy
telling of your crimes.

You were the darkness
of my blackest night
and more.
You where the fetters
that I wore,
the tears I cried.
When you died
and left me half a man.
