This piece is from early 2013 and is in praise of my beautiful home which is a tiny village in North Co Dublin. I live between sea and land and am blessed to have room to move and for my kids to grow.
Between the land and the green sea.
Between the land and the green sea
I was born and I have lived
Betwixt soil and salt I have grown
It shaped and formed the man I am
I am of the sand and soil
A creature of the coastal tide
I am blood and bone of yielding clay
And self and soul of foaming brine.
I will age and life will ebb
And not regret the passing time
I will praise sun and rain
and adore the wind that beats me down
I will die where I have stood
Be glad that life has been
Within rich earth and crashing wave
That I will rest between..
