Away to War

Away, away he roared
to his hounds of war,
sending them fleet
into the rising sun.
Away again he roared,
to his nine hundred heroes,
away archers and lancers,
away you all to war.

Away and away,
to defeat today
pale riders of the grey,
to take back again the land
my father won.
Away and away to win again
the hand of dark Morgana.

And by Tara’s stone I will wait,
Your valiant return,
you heroes and my hounds
that charge the rising sun.
To restore again the laws and lore and hunt away forever more
the pale riders of the grey.

Away away they charged
on foot and horse,
away into the arms
of Dana of the sun.
Away away the hounds
at loping run,
away into the rising day.

Sun sets on the hill
and mist lays a shroud
across his land
and in the dusk the cries
of his returning men,
no piper played no gay parade
just men cut and torn
by the pale riders of the grey

Away away he will no more,
send his heroes
and his dogs of war.
Away away into the rising sun.
For Tara falls now day by day
to the pale riders of the grey,
and across the plain
his echo calls.
Away away.
