Night Attire

Night Attire

To dress in starlight.
Velvet, on a bed of darkest night.
Blue rhinestone that glow
on purple air that fades to indigo.
Linen stitched with golden thread
from a spool of silken sun that slips abed

Studded in jet black silken ruin
edged with the sickle silver of an early moon.
A motif of silhouetted sycamore
reflected in a lake of sparkling glow
the phosphorescent light as a dying sun that lowers on a summer day

And slippers sewn from
the translucent light
the red and gold of gathering twilight.
or the pearl and darkest blue of early night.
To walk on stars and moons
and float on cirrus streams
Into a land of multi-coloured dreams.
