(a depression left in the snow by a skier falling backward)

It began with bravado.
A heart both brave and bold
As I walked out
Into the bitter mountain cold
And strapped on skis
Long slender lats
Then fell and fell
Splat on splats
Until I managed to stand
And then to cope
Skied torturously
Down a beginners slope
But the day ended
In the bitter dark
It ended in pain
And Sitzmark.

(I have never skied in my life. I have all the grace and balance of a rock but I heard the word Sitzmark and had to use it in a rhyme no matter how silly.)
