Stone Cold Heart

Stone cold, these walls that close her in.
Cold as the hearts that spurned this child
They said she was antisocial, unfriendly.
To headstrong, stubborn. To wild.

Now she lives here alone and unloved
Cast aside because she didn’t care
Discarded and forgotten she shivers
Hidden now in her cold damp concrete lair.

Spewed out from a broken uncaring system
Abandoned to the world at seventeen
To fight and claw to only just survive
In the city with streets dangerous, cold and mean.

Set adrift and spinning on this unknown tide
Shes lost and crying out but no one hears
She cries for the life and love she never had
She cries but no one wipes away her tears.
