Coiled Dragon

Coiled Dragon.

Wrapped about in writhing silver coil
From mossy roof, to dark fruitful soil
Each generation of our seed she shields
For them alone, her dragon fire she weilds

Beloved by each and every family child
Who saw the fury of a dragon, fierce and wild
And quaked in fear at her might crested dome
As she stood fast,  winged protector of our family home.

For near a century she has stood in our defence
Tooth and claw drawn in chilling menace
As flicking tongue darts from fearsome frilled face
Coiled dragon, on dark silken frame, above our fire place
