In Childrens Hands

In Children’s Hands

In long halls they sit in measured ranks

As sunlight falls on our fantastic dreams

The vanguard of our own new day

The young, the promised, our beloved scions

We send them to these exalted towers

To learn there from our best and from our worst

To ignite a passion that will forge new paths

The pioneers, creators, our next wave of firsts

On young heads we place weighty goals

Fulfilment of all future plans

The burden of those coming days

We trust into our children’s hands

This generation who will right our wrongs

The price we’ve paid in flesh and blood

Will claim our glory in that unseen time

As we console ourselves, we did some good.
