The world still turns

The world still turns.

In spite of it all the world still turns.
False prophets agitate and bile churns
In the blessed dawn Paris mourns
But the world still turns.

In the deserts good men live and die
Fathers fight and mothers cry
Blow by blow the hatred burns
But the world still turns

In the camps the displaced wait
While the great and good decide their fate
A solitary cry, another baby born
And the world still turns

Those who hate and those who cry
Those who live and those who die
By their words and acts a child learns
And the world still turns

In time I wonder will we learn
To see with love those who yearn
To quench the fires of hate that burn
And on and on the world will turn.
