Being Mum

Being Mum.

You know those times?
When he’s being a pain
When he is giving you lip
When he’s trying to pick a fight.
Remember he is fifteen
He has friends, does ok at school
It ok.
You’re doing it right.

Being his mum is a chore
He is stubborn and rude
But he is also clever and bright
Never causes trouble.
Has a good time,
Without booze or drugs
Its ok.
You’re doing it right.

Their is no manual
No guide book
But you are expected to know
Its a parents plight
To be needed and then not
But because you love him
He will always be your little boy
It Ok
You’re doing it right

No one told you how hard it was
That your boy would be angry
When he’s staying out all night.
Not calling to let you know
But he does come home.
Still hugs you, still calls you mum
It’s ok.
You’re doing it right.
